Shuffled to the Trout Stream

A silver ornamental clock fell,
Split the motionless silence open,
Jolted the sleepwalker awake.
Stunned, he wandered for awhile,
Shuffled to the trout stream,
Lingered in the bright air.
A dog laughed.
“Stray dogs, go to bed!”
He had no patience for distractions
In his search for some connection
Between prudent symbolism, frivolity,
And vivid mathematics.
