The minute he learned of her optimism crisis

He propelled himself toward her door.

With uncharacteristic cheer he performed an elaborate pantomime,

An exaggerated drama with the merest hint of romance,

Ending with a flourish of hand gestures.

Onlookers grudgingly conceded that his was a talent worth contemplating.
