Preoccupied with the unraveling of complicated knots,
He failed to notice that his bearded brown-paper sculptures
Were endangered by unexpected visitors clamoring for pound cake,
Causing stacks of cups and saucers to sway precariously
On the overturned wheelbarrow, underneath the lights.
Composure disappearing, he howled, dismayed.
They squinted and blinked in astonishment,
Mopping the ground with their hats to hide their embarrassment.
