Flattened Marshmallows

Aghast at this catastrophe, she hurriedly altered

The gleaming surface of the ice particles

By sprinkling cornstarch on the frozen linoleum.

The cornstarch took on the appearance of flattened marshmallows,

Which she swept in piles to cover the enigmatic scribbling.

She then tossed crates, boxes and hand towels in the middle of the floor,

Just as she heard the sounds of approaching footsteps.

Breathless and shivering, she hoped her efforts would suffice.
