While the light bulb cooled,

The son of the fortune teller

Perused old photos of onions

Of the otherwise-empty closet.

I keep dreaming of having an exhibit in a closet but I haven’t found one that is otherwise-empty.

Years ago a friend of ours opened a very tiny gallery in his upstairs apartment in an old house. Openings were almost a mystical experience because of the tiny space–it was like taking a journey, over the threshold, up the stairs, across the living space, down the hall, then ducking to get through the low doorway into the space, then sitting on the floor to look at the art, because it was one of those upstairs rooms where the ceiling drops down at 45-degree angles on several sides because of the slope of the roof.

  • Cynthia Cote says:

Yes! Like that…a mystical journey. As it should be.
