With fierce and desperate concentration,
She begged the snow-heavy clouds
To fly away, while simultaneously willing
All two- and four-legged beasts to choose a route
That would not bisect the sandy road she doggedly followed.
She traversed the hilly folds of the cold grey landscape
Where leafless branches of apple trees still held their fruit
Glowing against the dry fields like small red and yellow fires.
