Umber (10)

March 3, 2012 § 1 Comment

The next photo that caught my eye was contained in an especially ornate embossed paper frame.  The woman in this picture was in her mid-twenties, and she stood facing the camera wearing a garment resembling a heavy cut-velvet drape.  Her clothes were almost completely obscured by her thick, center-parted hair.  She clutched a hank of it in either hand, holding them out to either side, away from her face; the rest fell straight down all the way to the floor.  She had very long fingers, and dark ruffled cuffs stuck out of her sleeves.  Her large eyes stared up and to one side, as if she were watching a bird, a spaceship, or a falling tree.  I wondered if she ever got tangled up in her hair, especially while she slept.
