Umber (11)

Then I saw a familiar face.  I reached for a snapshot of she-of-the-not-umber-but-actually-blue-eyes.  She was younger in this picture, and sat in the grass in front of a white garage.  Her skinny legs stuck straight out in front of her, her anklets at half mast above dust-covered mary janes.  A large flopping flower was pinned to the front of her cotton dress.  Her arms encircled the neck of a black dog.  They both smiled blissfully for the camera.  Hoping to learn the girl’s name, I turned the photo over.  On the back, someone had written “Laramie, 1931, with Silvertip.”
