I was giving my usual half-hearted attention to the preparation of Sunday dinner when I heard Uncle Del send Ervin to get something from the barn. As I stood at the stove, stirring burnt creamed peas with new potatoes, I looked out the kitchen window and saw my cousin lollygagging in the sunlight, poking the milk cow with a twig, thoroughly enjoying himself. He turned a cartwheel, and then spent several minutes swinging from a branch of the apple tree. He began rolling in the grass. Then he skipped out of sight.
