Umber (25.1 — Kate’s Letter)

May 26, 2012 § 1 Comment

Dear Papa,

Stanley, Alfred and I are finally settled into our new quarters.  It seems strange to be so far away from Kearney and from Elm Creek.  I miss you, Granny, Grandpa, Uncle Delbert and Ervin.  I pray for each of you every night.

I know we didn’t part on the happiest of terms.  I love you all so much, and I don’t want to be at odds with any of you.

I hope you have had time to consider the things I said, in the spirit in which they were intended.  I must reiterate, here — and I do not say this with any intention of being disrespectful — that Vera deserves better treatment from her family than she has received of late.
