“Men!” Saint Agnes and Saint Cecilia exclaimed in unison.
“Why did you wait so long to warn her about Leroy?”
“You’re so quick to judge. He might not be so bad, now that he’s married to her…”
“You have to remember that she’s not even sure that she’s hearing us; she thinks maybe she’s imagining what we say to her.”
“That’s not true, she trusts us.”
“Someone should have warned her about Father Hoolihan…”
Sebastian yanked the arrow out of his neck and hurled it at Saint Michael. It bounced off the angel’s armor and clattered to the ground.
“I’ve stood here suffering in silence long enough,” the arrow-pierced saint said. “I’m leaving.”
