Umber (31.2 –Alice’s Story)

June 11, 2012 § 1 Comment

“Who might you be, dear?” the dead woman asked me.  I introduced myself, and before I could explain about the estate sale ephemera, she said she was aware of what the people in the various photos had been telling me, and asked me to find one of the pictures of Vera in her wedding dress.

“How do you know what they’ve been saying?” I asked her.

“What else do I have to do while I’m lying here in this box but to eavesdrop?” she said.  I’m hoping you’ll find a better picture of me somewhere in that great heap underneath your desk.”
