Umber (33.3 — Lorna’s Story)

June 24, 2012 § 1 Comment

My son Oscar, Leroy’s father, decided that a married man should be able to support his own family, so he cut off Leroy’s allowance as soon as Jewell and Pearl came home and reported that the wedding had in fact taken place.  Leroy was not prepared for this sudden termination of his funds, and found the prospect of supporting himself and his wife daunting.  He and Vera moved to Laramie, where he thought he might find work in a lumber camp.
