Umber (41.2 — Kate’s Letter to Vera)

July 12, 2012 § 2 Comments

My dear sister, how will you get along in Laramie without a husband?  Myrna says you could stay with her if you want to move back to Kearney.  You said you are looking for work.  If I wasn’t so pregnant, I would come and help you with Oleander.  You could always come and stay with us, and we could raise our babies together.  I know the east coast is a long way away, but you would always be welcome.

Vera, why on earth did you tell Leroy, when he left, that you would wait for an entire year for him to change his mind and come back to you?  Since he has abandoned you and the baby, you should let him go.  Get a divorce, Vera, and start over.  You are a beautiful, bright woman.  Don’t waste any more time on that man.

Love to you and my little niece!

This leaves a twist in my gut…excuse me, a tremor in my abdomen…a lot of folks will relate to these feelings in family conflicts.
Oh, Margo.. the artist/writers group was wonderful…and led to more networks in the City for writers. One of the artists, a woman, had a small block piece with carousel horse head, she’s thinking of a series. Which would be such a saleable collection to have. I loved it but your work is so much better. Just an idea.

    • Hey, Paula, so glad the writers/artists group was good. I am hoping to find something up here eventually, though don’t have time to look into it yet. What kinds of things did they do? How often will you meet?

Thank you for always being so encouraging! I have 3 weeks to finish the paintings for my show, so the pressure is on.

      How’s the writing coming?
