Umber (47.2 — Oleander’s Story)

August 7, 2012 § 1 Comment

Julie was a single mother, so she needed a lot of help around the house.  She needed help with her furnace, so she asked Daddy.  Then Julie needed help with a window that was stuck, so she asked Daddy again.  One afternoon when Mama came home from work, she said, “Where’s your dad?”  I told her he’d gone to help Julie with a leaky faucet in her kitchen.

“There’s been a leaky faucet in our kitchen for months.  Would you run and fetch him, Olly Belle?”

“Okay,” I said, and brought my dog inside so he wouldn’t follow me down the block.

“I’ll be right back, Silvertip, I promise.”

Silvertip thumped his tail on the ground.
