Umber (47.14 — Oleander’s Story)

August 20, 2012 § 1 Comment

Inside the confessional, I began reciting, “Bless me father for I have sinned…oops.”  I retrieved my notes from where I had dropped them on the floor.  “My last confession was two weeks ago.  These are my sins.”

I tried to read the words I had scrawled on my lined tablet paper, but it was quite dark, and I couldn’t see them very well.  I heard the priest sigh.

“Just tell me as best you can,” he urged.

brings back memories and the way I would sometimes confess my one sin of lying…the lie was the sin I’d just confessed because our school made us go to confession weekly. Identify with Ollie. Her voice is fresh and strong.
